Goalscape connect is a cloud based application that can be used to establish and prioritise goals and also use it to track progress toward achieving them. What Goalscape does differently is use the circular visual representation of a multilevel pie char to represent the goals and sub goals.
Why is this brilliant? Because it forces you to acknowledge that you have limited resources. If you increase the importance of one goal, another goal has to give, in the 100% of a circle.
Goalscape was developed based on experience of Olypmic coaches, so is in essence a personal goal setting tool, but it’s power and uses go far beyond the personal goal setting.
There are many tools that allow you to record and track goals, but none that helps you visualise so quickly. By being collaborative cloud based it means you can work with multi-locational teams and share goals without any drama.
A very useful feature we found when using it to manage projects between resources across the globe it a the integrated ‘chat’ feature. It isn’t instant messaging but it allows you to record discussion, agreements and progress between multiple parties using the tool.
Goalscape doesn’t replace traditional project management tools for larger project, but definitely can be used for smaller distributed projects with say 3 or 4 people. I don’t think this was originally envisage when the product was developed but it definitely is good for that.
Many agile project manager are taking up this tool. as well as educational establishments as a way of setting course goals and objectives and measuring success.
Goalscape comes with importing facilities from project management tools and mind mapping tools, and you could say fits neatly between the two. If you love mind mapping and also like organising project you’ll love this.
(There is a desktop version too, but in most cases the cloud version is of much more use )
